Should Women cover their Heads in Church?
WOMEN HAIR AND THEIR HEAVENLY HONOR
Women should know that the hair of a woman is valuable in the Angelic realm of Heaven and is link to prophetic signals and divine strengths.
HERE IS THE MYSTERY BEHIND HAIR FROM THE HEBREW AND GREEK ROOT MEANING.
1Co 11:5, “and every woman who prays or prophesies with her head [crown of head] uncovered dishonors her head [her husband] (1Co 11:3, “the head of the woman is the man”).
Vs. 11:6, "But if it be a shame for a woman to be shorn or shaven, let her be covered."
The question is, is the Bible talking about a “Hat”, a Head scarf or "Beret"?
The entire exhortation of Paul in 1Corinthians 11:4-15 is speaking of nothing else but the human hair. To note, Chapter 11:14-15 are the key verses which confirms and concludes that the exhortation was concerning the man’s and woman’s natural hair.
The exhortation was simple. Paul said, a man should NOT have long hair and it’s a shame if he does, and a woman should not pray or prophesy with her “head” uncovered. Then he reveals that this covering is the woman’s hair.
The term “with her HEAD uncovered” is not speaking of not wearing a Cap or Beret but refers to her head not being covered with “hair”. [1Co 11:15, “for her hair is given her for a covering].
Note also in 1Co 11:5, it did not say her hair should be covered, else it would mean that she needs a veil or hat etc. It says her “head” should be covered, and this is where Vs.16 comes in; her hair is given as a covering for her head.
Here we have stablished by scriptures that this Covering that Paul is speaking of is the “Hair”
1Co 11:6, “For if the woman be not covered, [with her hair] let her also be shorn: but if it be a shame for a woman to be shorn or shaven, let her be covered. [with her long hair] – (1Co 11:15, “But if a woman has long hair, it is a glory to her; for her hair is given her for a covering”.)
In 1Co 11:10 it says, "For this cause ought the woman to have power on her head “because” of the angels”.
Two things stand out in this verse:
Here is where it gets interesting.
According to the Greek the “Power ON HER HEAD” is a signet and token of power and royal authority, that is designated to be upon the crown of her head and is represented by the woman’s hair.
Let us look at more interesting things about this power on the woman’s head from the Hebrew scriptures.
The word “power” is translated from the Hebrew word ‘OZ, which came from the root word “OZAZ” and contains the Hebrew letters “Zayin”, “Zayin”, “Ayin”.
ZAYIN represents a “weapon” or “Sword.” AND AYIN means “eye”, “to see” “to understand”, “spiritual insight”.
The Ayin for divine and insight and represent the power of sight.
Adding therefore, ZAYIN [which represents a “weapon” or “Sword] to the letter AYIN, it means that God has given women the ability to see (the power of her insight), and the weapon, the sword [the word] (to execute).
When women have insight in the spiritual realm, they can deploy their weapon more accurately.
Here, Paul is identifying the natural hair which upon the woman’s head as a signet of royal authority, and divine insight and understanding, representing her glory and honour, which serves as a veil or mantle over her, which also represents her power in submission to her husband- [1Co 11:15].
Hence the woman’s hair has a spiritual significance that the human nature does not know about or comprehend.
Why because of the Angels?
To every woman, a specific Angel is assigned to give accounts to every strand of hair upon her head. These Angels are the caretakers of the Human hair in the divine realm. This is revealed in the saying of Jesus in Mat 10:30, "But the very hairs of your head are all numbered."
The term “numbered” means counted and documented. Whenever something is numbered in scriptures, it is for documentation. Why are the strands of a person's hair being documented?
This is because a woman’s Hair represents her glory and honour and serves as a veil or mantle over her and represents her power in submission to her husband- [1Co 11:15].
THE HAIR – A COVERING
1Co 11:15, “But if a woman has long hair, it is a GLORY" [Greek definition- “excellence”, “pre-eminence”, “dignity”, “grace”, “praise”] to her: for her hair is given her for a COVERING.
The Greek definition for “COVERING”- [Strong’s Concordance G4018 - Greek definition - Peribolaion “per-ib-ol'-ah-yon”
“Something thrown around one”, “a mantle”, “veil”, “vesture.”]
Also, according to the Hebrew and Greek definition, the woman’s hair is her covering; “something thrown around her and serves as a “veil” or a “vesture”, or a “mantle”, and serves as a signet of royal authority, and divine insight and understanding, representing her glory and honour, which serves as a power of insight.
The definition “mantle” perfectly ties into 1Co 11:10 which says, "For this cause ought the woman to have POWER on her head,” [“force”, “capacity”, “token of control”, “delegated influence”, “strength”, “the ability or strength with which one is endued]
In Hebrew, it’s “Adderet/Addereth”: which means “glory”, “a mantle”.
The root meaning of Adderet is ‘Adar’ and means “glorious”, “splendid”, “marvellous”, and “mighty”.
Addereth ties perfectly and confirms 1Co 11:15, “But if a woman has long hair, it is a glory to her”.
When the bible says, if a woman is not covered, [Vs.15, “her hair is given to her for a covering”), it means if she doesn't have long hair covering her head during prayer or prophesying, she should cut it short or shave her head. Yet it is saying in Vs. 6, nevertheless, it is a shame to cut it short, and it is also a shame to have it shaved off, so therefore let her head be covered.
In simple terms, there is NOTHING in these verses that suggest that a woman should cover her head with a Cap or Beret and headscarf to come to Church, or pray etc.
The woman’s hair is her glory and is a covering, and her spiritual adornment of power.
SHOULD WOMEN CUT THEIR HAIR?
(Good News Bible) 1Co 11:5, “…there is no difference between her and a woman whose head has been shaved".
1Co 11:6, "If the woman does not cover her head, she might as well cut her hair. And since it is a shameful thing for a woman to shave her head or cut her hair, she should cover her head".
Shaven xuraō (xoo-rah'-o)
From a derivative of the same as (meaning a razor); to shave
Shaven gâlach (gaw-lakh)'
A primitive root; properly to be bald, that is, (causatively) to shave;
1Co 11:6 For if the woman be not covered, let her also be SHORN:
[Shorn qâtsab (kaw-tsab)'
A primitive root; to clip, or (generally) chop: - cut down, shorn]
but if it be a shame for a woman to be shorn (cut her hair, cut down, short hair) or shaven,(Bald) let her be covered.
CUTTING HAIR FOR MEDICAL CONDITIONS
What is the woman’s hair is naturally short or has fell out, or has alopecia or some other form of medical condition?
In these cases, God is always merciful, however, if a woman head is not covered with hair, she should have a covering on her a head, a veil or shawl on her head as a sign of humility. This is important because the hair stand for a veil and covering in the spirit real, therefore in the absence of long hair, a veil should be worn.
This is the value of a woman of God, though in the western world this principle will not be taken with joy because of western Cultures.
Many women do things to their hair and think it’s no big deal, it's only style and fashion, but the Angel who numbers every strand of Hair upon a person's head will be the one to testify against those who abuse their Hair (Veil).
This gives the enemy legal right to corrupt a Christians because of violation of the Word.
That's one of the ways the Demons approach God with petitions and accusations.
