PRAYING FACING EAST
This teaching is not a man-made or Islamic theory; it is scriptural from the mouth of God Himself.
Facing the East and West in prayer is not mere tradition but is tied to a covenant of "Blessings" and "Answered prayers"; a covenant between God and man.
The East is very significant to God because the "Door of Heaven" is in the East.
Ezekiel 43:2 "...I saw coming from the East the dazzling light of the presence of the God of Israel."
Vs.4, "The dazzling light [the glory] passed through the East gate and went INTO the Temple."
Before we go further, let's first look at the covenant of praying towards Jerusalem.
PRAY FACING JERUSALEM
1Kings chapter 8 is one of the most fascinating chapters concerning the covenant of praying facing certain direction. Solomon prayed and said:
1Ki 8:29, "...That thine eyes may be open toward this house [the temple that Solomon build in Jerusalem] night and day, even toward the place of which thou hast said, My name shall be there: that thou mayest hearken unto the prayer which thy servant shall make toward this place.
1Ki 8:30, "And hearken thou to the supplication of thy servant, and of thy people Israel, when they shall pray toward this place: and hear thou in heaven thy dwelling place: and when thou hearest, forgive".
1Kings establishes that anybody who prays facing Jerusalem will receive forgiveness and answered prayers.
This is not saying that God doesn’t hear people's prayer if they do not pray toward the Temple Mount in Jerusalem (God is everywhere). But, why not stand on that promise for all people? It’s a promise for Jews and non-Jews alike.
Daniel followed this principle.
Daniel 6:10, "Now when Daniel knew that the writing was signed, he went into his house; and his windows being open in his chamber TOWARD JERUSALEM, he kneeled upon his knees three times a day, and prayed, and gave thanks before his God, as he did aforetime."
God is not confined to the Temple Mount in Jerusalem, It’s that God has His ears tuned into that place, which was confirmed when He accepted Solomon’s plea by saying:
1Kings 9:3, "I have heard your prayer and your supplication with which you have made supplication before Me; I have sanctified this house that you have built to put My name there forever; and MY EYES AND MY HEART SHALL BE THERE FOREVER.
It is good that we start the morning with a Sacrifice of [Praise, Prayer, Worship etc.] and end the day with the same Sacrifice - Exodus 29:39, “The one lamb you shall offer in the morning, and the other lamb you shall offer at evening.” The Word of God says in Psalms 113:3, “From the rising of the sun [East] unto the going down [West] of the same the LORD'S name is to be praised.”
During morning prayers and Worship, it is customary to face Easterly [the Eastern gates] because of the revelatory understanding of Ezekiel 43:4, “The LORD'S Glory came into the temple through the East gate.”
Also in Ezekiel_10:19, “And the Cherubim lifted up their wings, and mounted up from the earth in my sight: when they went out, the wheels [Ophannim] also were beside them, and every one stood at the door of the East Gate of the LORD'S House.”
Ezekiel_11:1, “Moreover the spirit lifted me up, and brought me unto the East Gate of the LORD'S House, which looketh Eastward.”
Concerning praying facing East or West, [Not Mandatory, but has Great Significance] we need to know that understanding the biblical significance of the Cardinal points, is best understood when we understand the mysteries of Revelation 21:13, “On the East- three gates; on the North- three gates; on the South- three gates; and on the West- three gates.”
However, emphasis is specifically placed on the East and West [Zec 8:7, Zec 14:4, Isa 43:5, Isa 45:6], which represents the rising of God’s glory from the East, and the reflection of God’s Honor in the West, thus inspiring the Morning and Evening Sacrifices.
“East” is tied to the Angelic movements between Heaven and Earth and “West” is used to express the majesty of God that passes throughout the Earth. These mysteries of facing West represents taking authority over the Western Atmosphere, possessing the gates of the enemies, and breaking through the barriers of Satan.
Therefore, it was of spiritual importance to Seek the face of God in the early morning at sunrise and at sunset [6pm], Exo 29:39, “The one lamb thou shalt offer in the morning; and the other lamb thou shalt offer at even,”
With this mystery concerning the significance of the East Gate of God, God gave instruction in Numbers 2:3, “And on the east side toward the rising of the sun shall they of the standard of the camp of Judah pitch.” [To note, the Tribe of Judah represents the last Tribe of the Last Church Age].
In Numbers 2:3-7, we see that God ordered that the Tribe of Judah; The tribe of Issachar’, Tribe of Zebulun had the door of their tents facing Eastwardly towards the rising Sun.
Also, we see in Numbers 2:18, the Tribe of Ephraim; The tribe of Manasseh; Tribe of Benjamin were facing Westwardly which can be collaborated with the Evenings sacrifices.
Numbers 2:3, "And on the EAST SIDE TOWARD THE RISING OF THE SUN shall they of the standard of the camp of Judah pitch. Numbers 3:38, "But those that encamp before the tabernacle toward the east, before the tabernacle of the congregation eastward,"
Why would God ask them to pitch their tent facing the East to the rising Sun?
It is because, when the Sun rises, it brings a mystery of God's goodness that Ancient Israel knew about, but modern-day Christianity does not know about it.
The sun rays radiate God's glory; but READ THIS: Malachi 4:2, "But to you who fear My name, the Sun of (Righteousness) shall arise, and healing will be on (His) wings."
Why would the Sun be called righteousness? and why would there be healing in its rising? This relates to the attributes of Christ; so, what really is that connection between the Son in Heaven and the Sun in the East?
Because the "Door of the Glory" is in the East, the Lord's goodness and mercy and His different anointings enters the earth through the "Eastern gate of heaven". Ezekiel 43:4, Lamentations 3:23.
[The Sun is not the object of worship here, and humans SHOULD NOT see the sun as a deity not should any human worship the Sun.]
The sun is only a representation of Christ's glory which shines with brightness in the Eastern gate of the Heavens.
The Lord stands at the entrance eastern gate with power to blow upon the earth.
Just as the sun rises with natural healing in its light, just so Christ's rises in the East with healing in His wings.
According to the bible, whenever the Sun rises every morning, a new spiritual information is released to man. This information can also be scientifically proven. This is the reason; we know times and seasons; and what is going on in the heavenlies and what is to come upon the earth. The heavenly bodies are a time piece.
Genesis 1:14, "And God said, Let there be lights [Sun, Moon, Stars] in the firmament of the heaven to divide the day from the night; and let them [Sun, Moon, Stars] be for signs, and for seasons, and for days, and years:
When we understand the changes in God's creation, the sun, moon etc., we will understand Psalms 19:1, "The heavens declare the glory of God; and the firmament sheweth his handywork." Psalms 19:2, "Day unto day [the Sun, Moon Stars] uttereth speech"
Isaiah_59:19, "So shall they fear the name of the LORD from the west, and his glory from the rising of the sun".
5:00 -5:30 AM is a significant time to pray. One should pray facing East, when the sun is about to rise.
Receive:
Spiritual & Material Blessing
Prosperity & Health
Peak time to meditate upon God – 5:30 (there is an open door & the anointing is stronger.

2Kings 13:17, "And he [Elisha] said, Open the window eastward. And he opened it. Then Elisha said, Shoot. And he shot. And he said, The arrow of the LORD'S deliverance,"
So what's the significant?
The world is divided into a quadrant. Four Seasons, rules by Four Cardinal points: East - Spring (Vernal Equinox), (Summer Solstice), (Autumn Equinox) and (Winter Solstice). Also, North, South, East and West.
There are four Angels assigned to the Four Cardinal Points. Rev_7:1
When God says to face a certain direction, it is because the Angels who rules over this cardinal is in active duty to fulfill the desire of God for that person. When God told Elisha to make the king shoot the arrows towards the East, it was to give him victory over Assyria (2Ki 13:17). The Angel of God who rules the door of the East fought for him against the Assyrians.
The Devil is mimicking this cardinal order of God for his evil kingdom. He knows about its mysteries. Nevertheless, a Christian should not and is not worshipping the Sun, (Sun worship is an abomination), but is facing the direction from which the glory of God comes to the dimension of the earthly realm.
Here are few scriptures concerning the East:
2Chronicles_5:12 Also the Levites which were the singers, ...stood at the east end of the altar...
2Chronicles_29:4 And he brought in the priests and the Levites, and gathered them together into the east street,
Ezekiel_11:1 Moreover the spirit lifted me up, and brought me unto the east gate of the LORD'S house, which looketh eastward:
Isaiah 41:2, Who was it that brought the conqueror from the East, and makes him triumphant wherever he goes ’’
Isaiah 46:11, I am calling a man to come from the East, he will scoop down like a hawk and accomplish what I have planned.
Matthew 24:27, For the son of man will come like lightening which flashes across the whole sky from the East to the West.
Genesis 3:24, Then at the East side of the Garden he put living creatures and a flaming sword which turned in all directions.
Genesis 2:8, Then the Lord God planted a garden in Eden, in the East, and there he put the man he had formed.
“But will God indeed dwell on the earth? Behold, heaven and the highest heaven cannot contain you; how much less this house that I have built!”- 1 Kings 8:27
Mat_2:2, “Saying, Where is he that is born King of the Jews? for we have seen his star in the east, and are come to worship him.”
Lev 1:16, “And he shall pluck away his crop with his feathers, and cast it beside the altar on the east part, by the place of the ashes:”
Genesis 41, Exo 10, num 3;38

MYSTERIES OF 12 GATES
OF HEAVEN
Through four of these 12 Gates [to be precise the middle gate of each Cardinal Sphere] comes a Divine Wind of God’s Blessings and prosperity, and from the remaining eight come hurtful winds: when sent, they bring destruction on Land, Seas, and Air.
These are the blessings of the North, the South, the East, and the West according to Isaiah 43:5-6.
IN THE EAST, there are three Gates: one in the middle, one facing South and the other towards the Northern side.
Through the Eastern portal facing the South, comes forth the wind that brings forth desolation, drought, heat, and destruction.
Through the Middle portal of the East come proceed the East Wind that brings rain and fruitfulness and prosperity and dew.
Through the Easter portal facing the North comes the wind that brings forth the cold and drought.
Over them are small windows through which comes the Sun, Moon and Stars (There are gates of Heaven - Gen 28:17 and there are windows of Heaven- Mal 3:10).
This brings it to 6 portals in the East and therefore 6 is in the west: making it 12 portals from East to West.
The Sun and Moon rises from the Eastern portals and sets in the Western portals; therefore, out of these 12 portals go forth the sun, moon, and stars which are the Luminaries. The Archangel Uriel is the leader Angel of these luminaries of the Heavenlies.
IN THE SOUTH, there are three Gates: one in the middle, one facing East and the other towards the Western side.
From the southern portal that faces the East comes the South Wind that brings forth a hot wind.
And through the middle portal comes forth the Wind that brings forth the blessings of fragrant smells, dew and rain, and prosperity and health.
And through the third portal that faces the west comes forth the wind that brings dew and rain, locusts, and desolation.
Take note, that Health comes from the Southern middle gate. This is a blessing for counteracting evil. It is important because sickness, diseases and pestilence comes from the south, from the Queen of the South.
IN THE NORTH, there are three Gates: one in the middle, one facing the Eastern side and the other towards the Western side.
Out of the portal facing the East comes the wind that brings dew and rain, locusts and desolation.
From the Northern middle gate comes forth the wind of health and rain and dew and prosperity.
And through the third portal facing the west comes the wind of cloud and hoar-frost, and snow and rain, and dew and locusts.
IN THE WEST, there are three Gates: one in the middle, one facing the Northern side and the other towards the Southern side.
Through the first portal facing the North comes forth the wind of dew and hoar-frost, and cold and snow and frost.
From the middle portal come forth the wind of dew and rain, and prosperity and blessing. And through the portal that faces the south comes forth the wind of drought and desolation and burning and destruction.
These are the twelve portals of the four corners of the heavens.
These are the blessings of the North, the South, the East, and the West according to Isaiah 43:5-6.
IN THE EAST, there are three Gates: one in the middle, one facing South and the other towards the Northern side.
