GOD’S FATHERLY & MOTHERLY
SIDE IN SCRIPTURES
To understand the passages of the Holy scriptures on this topic, we must go beyond the Greek and Latin oriented scriptures that the Roman Catholic has given to us, and cross over to the Original Hebrew version of God’s Word.
Based on Hebrew scriptures, we must understand that God is “A SPIRIT,” and is not gender bound; but is an All-Powerful Spirit and is complete in Himself. He is the fullness and completeness of the Godhead; therefore, God is neither male nor female by default, but God is the Eternal Spirit; Hence, He revealed His name to Israel as “AHYAH” (I AM in KJV).
AHYAH means “I will be what I will be” OR “I am whatever that I am” OR “I will be whatever you will me to be.”
When Israel wanted a Father, God was to them; when they wanted a Mother, God was to them; when they wanted a Savior, God was to them; when they wanted a Shepherd, God was to them. Remember, the Holy Spirit manifested the motherly aspect of God in the wilderness many times.
If we notice, everything that God created, He created it male and female; Plants, Animals, Angels, Humans. Even in natural none-living things, the pronoun “he” and “she” are used; i.e. the Sun is he, the Earth is she, the moon is she; even Jerusalem is called she, while Israel is called, “he”.
God created Humans after himself. He created humans, Spirit, Soul and Body, just like himself.
GOD
MAN - 1 Thess 5:23
ALL human beings have Male and Female Chromosome, all! A man (male) is male because the male chromosome dominates, but it does not mean that he does not have feminine chromosomes.
In fact, all male (man) first started out as a female Zygote in the womb. According to the DNA information, the Zygote’s genital would remain and develop into a female genital, or the genital would grow out to be that of a male. Even Science proves that we are all male and female on a chromosome level; sounds familiar? Yes. We were created in the likeness and image of God.
This means, God has created everything after “HIS” attributes. First, in Genesis 1:26, “Then God said, “Let Us make man in Our image, after Our likeness”.
Genesis 1:27, “And God created man in His image; in the image of God He created him. He created them male and female”.
Here is the thing. A thing can only bear the image of something if this something has the same image. If a Dog gives birth and the offspring has the form of a bird, then the offspring is not in likeness and image of the Dog.
The principle of everything is to bring forth after its kind, (Gen 1:24).
Therefore, if God created “Man” after His image and likeness, then it’s obvious that God has the likeness of a Man.
But what about the Woman? Vs.27 says the “woman” was created in God likeness also. Therefore, if God created the woman in His likeness and image, [women whom we know have extra features], then it’s obvious that God has the image and likeness of a Woman also. Remember God is a Spirit and Almighty God has no fixed gender, but God is all.
Deuteronomy 32:18, "God’s name is “Eloah”, who gives birth to Israel in groaning and travail as of a woman giving birth."
Isaiah 66:13, “As one whom his mother comforteth, so will I comfort you; and ye shall be comforted in Jerusalem”.
Hosea 11:3, “Yet I was the one who taught Israel to walk. I took my people up in my arms, but they did not acknowledge that I took care of them”.
Hosea 11:4, “I drew them to me with affection and love. I picked them up and held them to my cheek; I bent down to them and fed them”.
Matthew 23:37 and Luke 13:34, “Jerusalem, Jerusalem,…How often have I desired to gather your children together as a hen gathers her brood under her wings, and you were not willing!” (God as a Mother Hen).
Isaiah 42:14, “God says, For a long time I kept silent; I did not answer my people. But now the time to act has come; I cry out like a woman in labour”.
This motherly part of God is the “Holy Spirit” who comforts us and nurture us. Nurturing and comforting in a family; though it can be done by a father, we can all attest that it is a Motherly role; the Motherly love of God.
In ancient days, God operated as one entity, with different roles. It was not until the New Testament that God revealed and distributed his functioning attributes distinctly and separately.
In the New Testament, God send his Son to be our Salvation, then send the Holy Spirit to be our everlasting Helper, while he (God) remains as our Father who is in Heaven.
The Female is called the “helpmate” (Gen 2:18), and the Holy Spirit is called the Helper, why? The Holy Spirit is the life of the Church. This Helper attribute is like the helper attribute that Eve manifested when she was called a Helpmate.
HOLY SPIRIT IS – SHEKHINAH
The Holy Spirit (Ruach Ha-Kadosh) is the manifested Glory of God all throughout the Old Testament and is seen after the outpouring of Holy Fire on Pentecost. The rabbis used the term shekhinah in reference to the glory of God filling the temple (2 Chronicles 7:1), his presence at the cloud (Exodus 14:19; 1 Kings 8:10–13), and his dwelling in the mountain ( Psalm 68:16-18; 74:2; Isaiah 8:18; Joel 3:17).
In Hebrew, the word for Spirit (Ruach) is feminine, which is used in the Hebrew Bible. In Rabbinic literature of the midrash, this Spirit has always been known and spoken about from a feminine aspect; and is known as the “Shekhinah” - the Divine manifested Presence. The name Shekinah is feminine. In Arabic, the word is “Sakina,” a word mentioned six times in the Quran.
The earliest Christians - all of whom were Hebrews - spoke of the Holy Spirit as a feminine figure.
Scholars are aware of it, but chose to flow with the modern mainstream pronoun, “He.”
The reason you cannot see the Spirit’s femininity in Bible it’s because all the earliest manuscripts of the NT that we have are all Greek, plus the Old Testament copy we use is also the Greek version (Septuagint).
In the Hebrew writings, where the feminine pronouns were present, the new copies and translations removed these feminine pronouns.
Therefore, when Christianity transitioned from consisting of mostly Hebrew-speaking Israelites to Greek-speaking gentiles, the gender of the Holy Spirit was gradually lost in time.
Also, when the early fathers wrote the creeds, the Holy Spirit was permanently made masculine, forming an all-masculine Trinity.
By then, the feminine spiritual implications of the Holy Spirit had disappeared.
Nevertheless, there are few scriptures which preserved the feminine aspect of the Holy Spirit, and only those with understanding will see this.
WISDOM
The Holy Spirit who is the Shekhinah is also the Feminine part of God who is called “WISDOM” in the book of Proverbs.
Pro 1:20-21, “Wisdom cries outside; she utters her voice in the streets”;
she cries in the chief place of gathering, in the openings of the gates; in the city she utters her words, saying”,
AGAIN, in Pro 3:13-18, Pro 7:4, Pro 8:1-3, Pro 9:1-3.
The name EL-SHADDAI also carries a feminine donation in the Hebrew scriptures. It actually means “the GOD OF BREASTS” or “MANY BREASTED ONE”, “THE ALL SUFFICIENT GOD” who is able to nourish us in ALL things. Why Breast? the breast is one of the key symbols of nurturing, sustenance and parental love passed on from God the parent, to Christians, the children of God.
El Shaddai may contribute to the understanding of the motherly side of God to nourish, i.e. with milk and honey. Gen. 49:25 (this verse uses only Shaddai): “by the God of your father, who will help you, by Shaddai who will bless you with blessings of heaven above, blessings of the deep that lies beneath, blessings of the breasts and of the womb.”
Virtually many uses of El Shaddai occurs in a fertility context (Exod. 6:3, Gen. 28:3, Gen. 35:11).
Ruth 1:20, 21: Naomi bitterly speaks of how Shaddai has dealt bitterly with her, depriving her of fertility.
Fertility is always bound to the feminine anointing- the female aspect who is able to produce and reproduce.
ImmaYah is one of the names of the Holy Spirit. ImmaYah is the mothering and feminine aspect of God. Remember God is both male and female attributes. Abba Yah is Father Yah.
Abba-Yah who is Father Yah created “Male” in His likeness and image and this same God created woman in his feminine side, the Shekhinah or Imma-Yah, yet, it’s the same God.
So, both Abba and Imma are ONE God. That's why God the Father said let US make man in OUR likeness and image.
When he said let us, who is the us? He was talking about Himself and the Holy Spirit and the Word. 1Jn 5:7, “For there are three that bear record in heaven, the Father, the Word, and the Holy Ghost: and these three are one”.
The Shekhinah is El-Shaddai manifested for signs and wonders in a specific place.
- In the Occult, they experience the same sensation as us, almost 30% of the same result as us, but they are not of God Almighty.
Occultists have their own so-called holy spirit, which is a false holy spirit; it is a demon spirit. This is called the Kundalini spirit, the coiled serpentine energy of the 7 Chakras.
The Chabhodh is the attribute of God whereas Shekinah is the embodiment of all the attributes of God. Jesus was the physical manifestation of the Shekhinah.
This Glory manifest with Dunamis and creative miracles, signs and wonders come forth. When this Glory is not there, people go through the normal Sunday services months after months and experience nothing divine (supernatural). Sick come and go back home sick, the cripple remains in their wheelchairs, those with cancer in the Church dies and are buried etc.
