DIFFERENT LEVELS OF DEMONIC
OPPRESSIONS
There are “Four” stages of demonic activities in a person’s life.
FIRST STAGE of a demonic haunting is – “INFESTATION”.
Demonic infestation is the stage in which demons would takeover your home by an infestations of Insects and Rodents. Also, it would seem like your home has become an open harbor for demonic entities. This happens to both Christians and none-Christians.
SECOND STAGE of a demonic haunting is – “OPPRESSION”
Demonic oppression is the stage where you are dealing with physical assaults, psychological and sexual attacks. It’s where you are tormented by Demons at home or wherever you are. This can happen to both Christians and none-Christians. The demons are external. Acts 10:38, “How God anointed Jesus of Nazareth with the Holy Ghost and with power: who went about doing good, and healing all that were oppressed of the devil; for God was with him”.
THIRD STAGE of demonic haunting is – “DEMONIZATION”
In this stage, the oppression turns to a more person attack. In involves manipulating and controlling your psychological system. This can happen to both Christians and none-Christians. In born again Christians, this is the last stage; but for the ungodly, this stage progresses to another level called Demon possession.
FOURTH STAGE of demonic haunting – “POSSESSION”
This level is a higher level of Demonization- the Dooming stage; the stage where you are owned by the Devil. The term possession means ownership. In this realm, only unsaved people are prisoners here. The Devil cannot own a born-again Christian who is already owned or possessed by God.
90% of Christians and 99.9 % of non-Christians have not understood the differences between Demonic possession and Demonization.
Everyone taking part in Occultism such as Wicca, Witchcraft, Divination and the worship of the Queen of heaven, veneration of the dead would have opened a doorway in their lives to demon spirits. This may not be known by the person, but the biblical fact remains; participation in these WILL allow demons in the person whether they believe in it or not.
BEING DEMON POSSESSED
To be Demon possessed is to be possessed by the Devil. When a person is possessed by a demon, this means they are OWNED by the Demon; in other words their ownership lies in the hands of the Devil. This possession is not what the secular world interprets as possession, but is in itself the ownership of the victim. The secular world and few Christians believe that to be demon possessed is when a demon began manifesting itself with weird animalistic noises, rage, and unearthly charisma through the person. The word possession caries a deeper meaning than just a momentary overtaking of the person’s will and body. Acts 16:16, “And it came to pass, as we went to prayer, a certain damsel possessed with a spirit of divination met us, which brought her masters much gain by soothsaying:”
This girl was demonized but was also not a Christian and therefore was possessed by the Demon.
According to the Webster’s Dictionary Possession mean: to have ownership of, Belonging to: to take control of.
This term possess brings a personal meaning as to have as your own, or to have ownership of something, or to control continually; which is not giving any notion that it is momentary for an occasion but rather as an eternal heritage. Most people who are not saved, though matter what their sinful character is, though matter what sin they participate in will ever submit to the fact that they are owned or can be owned by a demon, but just how does the bible explains that?
A person can only be Possessed (Owned) by ONE ruling power; the Almighty God OR Satan the Devil. But who are the people owned by God or the Devil?
The bible says that any person who are not born again (rebirth in Christ through the Holy Spirit) do not belonging to God. This truth is generally not accepted by the normal people, for every person believes that they are the children of God. According to the bible this is not true.
Romans 8:9, “Now if any man have not the Spirit of Christ, he is none of his.” Also we see in John 1:12, “But as many as received him, to them gave he power to become the sons of God,”
Concerning the question of who belongs to God or not this scripture is the most profound in the New Testament. It plainly says that those who do not have the Holy Spirit do not belong to God. Also the statement “power to become the sons of God” means that we WERE NOT sons (children) of God, but BECAME SONS of God when we received Him.
If everybody were children of God, then God would not say “power TO BECOME sons of God” because we CANNOT become something we already are. A profound scripture which confirms that is in Galatians 4:5, “To redeem them that were under the law, that we might receive the adoption of sons.”
Vs. 6, “And because ye are sons, God hath sent forth the Spirit of his Son into your hearts, crying, Abba, Father.”
Vs.7, “Wherefore thou are no more a servant, but a son; and if a son, then an heir of God through Christ.”
Romans 8:15 also says, “but ye have received the Spirit of adoption, whereby we cry, Abba, Father.”
There are three things that stand out in these verses, 1, adoptions of sons, 2.crying Abba Father and 3. no more servants but sons. This tells us that we become sons of God by adoption and because of this sonship we have the divine right to call God our Father, Abba Father. Also, we went from being servant to being sons, sons of God which mean we were not sons of God before, directly confirming 1 Peter 2:10 and Ephesians Chapter 2.
At the time of conversion, the Holy Spirit enters our heart with the essence of God, making us sons and daughters of God through Christ’s Spirit, the Spirit of adoption.
Note: according to Romans 8:9 and John 1:12 only those who have the Spirit of God by receiving Him belong to Him and only those who have received Jesus have become sons or children of God. The Holy Spirit makes the difference and this Holy Spirit can only be received through conversion, being born again.
According to this truth of the bible, we therefore know that a person who is a born again Christian and indwelled by the Holy Spirit CANNOT be possessed or owned by a Demon spirit for he is already owned by the Spirit of God.
This therefore tells us that those who are not indwelled by the Holy Spirit through being born again in the Spirit of Christ are walking directly within the bounds of Ephesians 2:12, “That at that time ye were without Christ, being aliens from the commonwealth of Israel, and strangers from the covenants of promise, having no hope, and without God in the world:”
Because of the fact that someone becomes a child of God only at conversion in Christ, it is therefore impossible for someone to be possessed or owned by God without being born again; for God can only own those who belong to Him, those who have accept Him as Saviour and Lord of their life by being born again. John 3:3, “Jesus answered and said unto him, Verily, verily, I say unto thee, Except a man be born again, he cannot seeth kingdom of God.”
Being a child of God goes beyond just going to church and praying, but is in itself turning your heart unto Christ in repentance and baptism Acts 2:38, “Then Peter said unto them, Repent, and be baptized every one of you in the name of Jesus Christ for the remission of sins, and ye shall receive the gift of the Holy Ghost.” and also becoming a Christian Acts 11:26, “And the disciples were called Christians first in Antioch.” 1Peter 4:16, “Yet if any man suffer as a Christian, let him not be ashamed”. I added these scripture because many people believe that becoming a Christian is joining a religion.
Also, sin opens a door for demons to enter a person whether save or un-saved. A Demon within a Christian does not mean that the person is possessed by the devil, but is only indwelled because of the sins. Within Christians, this is called “Demon Oppression” or “Demonization”. Unlike a person who is not born again, until the person makes up their mind to give their heart to Jesus Christ and accept Him as their Lord and Saviour he or she is possessed or owned not by God’s Holy Spirit but by the powers of the Devil.
In the case of a none-Christian he or she will be captivated in four stages at the same time; possessed by a Demon (owned), demonized (controlled) and oppressed (attack) and infestation (demonic manifestations). A situation found in the Gospels confirms the theory of demonic possession. This is seen in Matthew 15:22, “And, behold, a woman of Canaan came out of the same coasts, and cried unto him, saying, Have mercy on me, O Lord, thou Son of David; my daughter is grievously vexed with a devil.
Vs.23, “But he answered her not a word. And his disciples came and besought him, saying, Send her away; for she crieth after us.”
Vs.24, “But he answered and said, “I am not sent but unto the lost sheep of the house of Israel.”
Vs.25, “Then came she and worshipped him, saying, Lord, help me.”
Vs.26, “But he answered and said, It is not meet to take the children's bread, and to cast it to dogs.”
The woman and her child were NOT children of God, for they were NOT Israelites; and this is known because of the statement Jesus made when He said, “I am not sent but unto the lost sheep of the house of Israel.” They were gentiles according to the flesh and were not considered to be children of God but dogs even by Jesus in Matthew 15:26. “It is not meet to take the children's bread, [Healing of God’s children] and to cast it to dogs [Gentiles or none worshippers of God].
Jesus was reluctant to heal the gentile girl who was demonized because she was not part of God’s people.
This girl who was being oppressed by the Demon were not only demonized but owned (possessed) by them, for she was not a child of God.
This is why Psychics and Clairvoyants and fortune tellers who do not even know about Jesus Christ, who say that their gifts and powers are from the Spirit of God have deceived themselves because God’s anointing does NOT dwell in and operate through unsaved folks. This can change as God has called us to be translated from darkness to light, from death to life John 5:24. Also, Acts 26:18 To open their eyes, and to turn them from darkness to light, and from the power of Satan unto God, that they may receive forgiveness of sins, and inheritance among them which are sanctified by faith that is in me.)
The summary of this: as I said before, we can only be owned or possessed by either one of the two beings, God or the Devil. If someone is not possessed or own by God through His Holy Spirit then they are own by the Devil period! This is hard to accept but one CANNOT be a none-Christian, not being born again and still be a child of God as we read in previous verses. As long a person is separated from the life of God he or she is not saved and the Devil has legal right of ownership of that person’s life.
This is what possession or possessed by the Devil is in reality. Also, the manifestation may be call demon possession because the devil is overpowering the person, but in essence it’s called Demonization and Demonic oppression; for possession is more of a personal ownership right.
DEMONIZATION
Demonization is a lesser case of being controlled by a Demon than Demonic possession itself. In plain words, Demonization means being under to control of an evil spirits. In my own understanding of these demonic invasions according to the bible, there are different levels of Demonization and it comes in two expressions.
First, the person may know that they are demonized because of the manifestations of strange behaviors. Secondly, the person may not know that they are indwelled or controlled by a Demon spirit because of the Demon’s skillful manipulation of the human characteristics. Luke 8:2 says, “And certain women, which had been healed of evil spirits and infirmities, Mary called Magdalene, out of whom went seven devils,”
Mary Magdalene sure had seven demons inside her, but neither she nor anyone knew she had them for there was no strange manifestation. This tells me that Demons can be inside a person for years without being noticed.
In a more practical sense Demonization is simple being indwelled by a Demon and being controlled by it either swiftly or aggressively. This is not limited to anyone but can happen to Christians as well as none Christians. This is similar to the demonized man of Gadarene in Luke 8:30, “And Jesus asked him, saying, What is thy name? And he said, Legion because many devils were entered into him.”
Because a Christian is indwelled by the Holy Spirit and possessed by Almighty God by their conversion to Christ, they cannot be possessed by the Demon but can only be oppressed and demonized.
Demonization does not mean that the Demon must be manifesting in any strange way but rather it is a subtle invasion of the person’s life; as I said, some persons may recognize the sudden change in the victim’s personality, while in some victims people may not notice anything. In Acts chapter 16 the young woman Paul confronted with the divining spirit was not a Christian but a Soothsayer or fortune teller. She was not only possessed by the Devil as a none-Christian, but was demonized, controlled by the demon to do things which was not natural.
Acts 16:16, “And it came to pass, as we went to prayer, a certain damsel possessed with a spirit of divination met us, which brought her masters much gain by soothsaying:”
Acts 16:17, “The same followed Paul and us, and cried, saying, These men are the servants of the most high God, which shew unto us the way of salvation.”
There, a woman who worked with the devil began shouting who was Paul and Silas were and what their mission was, commanding that the people to listen to them. She did this not because she was interested in them serving Jesus, nor was she excited with the word of God but because she was controlled by the Demon who wanted to deceive the people by pretending to be a believer and interested in the work of Jesus Christ. This is the characteristic of a spirit of divination. Soothsayer means to tell the truth as she did but by a Demon. They may prophesy things and reveal things unknown to them through demonic revelations. Her actions troubled Paul and he knew she was demonized, controlled by a false spirit. Acts 16:18, “And this did she many days. But Paul, being grieved, turned and said to the spirit, I command thee in the name of Jesus Christ to come out of her. And he came out the same hour.”
When ever a Demon begins to manifest in a fierce way it is because the anointing of God is penetrating the person’s spirit, soul and body. This is a higher level of Demonization which I will not discuss in this book but can be found in my next book “Declaring War Against the Devil’s War”. Reference to this level of Demonization can be found in Mark 5:2-5, Matthew 17:15-18, Mark 9:17-18.
This manifestation will happen to both those who are possessed or owned by the Devil (not born again) and those who are Christians and are demonized or oppressed of the Demons.
Though this is true because the anointing is most powerful, yet it is difficult to cast a Devil out from someone who is not a Christian because remember, a none-Christian is not owned by God and the Devil therefore has legal right to that body. Because God is a just and righteous God He respects any property that belongs to the Devil and will not violate the Devil’s right; He is a God of principle and integrity. Therefore one must not be quick to say that a person is possessed by the Devil because of demonic manifestation unless they know the spiritual status of the person.
In the case of a none-Christian he or she will be possessed by a Demon (owned), demonized (controlled) and oppressed (demonic manifestations) at the same time.
Demonization is very seductive because of its mild personalities.

Though this is true because the anointing is most powerful, yet it is difficult to cast a Devil out from someone who is not a Christian because remember, a none-Christian is not owned by God and the Devil therefore has legal right to that body. Because God is a just and righteous God He respects any property that belongs to the Devil and will not violate the Devil’s right; He is a God of principle and integrity. Therefore one must not be quick to say that a person is possessed by the Devil because of demonic manifestation unless they know the spiritual status of the person.
In the case of a none-Christian he or she will be possessed by a Demon (owned), demonized (controlled) and oppressed (demonic manifestations) at the same time.
Demonization is very seductive because of its mild personalities.
