GOD LOOKS ON THE HEART NOT THE OUTWARD – DECEPTION
We decode this verse because many Christians have used this verse to sentence their soul to Hell. Multitudes are living in sin and darkness in the Church and think their church life is approvable before God.
The reference used is found in 1 Samuel 16:7 “But the LORD said to Samuel, “Do not look on his appearance or on the height of his stature, because I have rejected him. For the LORD sees not as man sees man looks on the outward appearance, but the LORD looks on the heart.”
In 1 Samuel 16:7, when God says that He does not look at the outwards, he looks at heart, He is saying that He does not choose or give grace to a man based on his physical and bodily form. He searches the heart to make a judgement.
This scripture is not meant to remove the codes of decency, moral values, and godly attire, but was meant to give understanding that God don’t choose people because of how they look, but by their heart.
The concept and belief of many people is that God is not concern about your outward apparel and appearances, because it's the heart that proves a relationship with Christ. This is false because God has given strict rules concerning the outward appearance of His people. 1Ti 2:9-10, "Women, for their part, should display their beauty by dressing modestly and decently in appropriate clothes, not with elaborate hairstyles or by wearing gold, pearls, or expensive clothes, but through good actions. This is proper for women who claim to revere God."
A person's dressing and appearance testifies to the condition of the heart. If a woman or man is carnal and contaminated with lustfulness, it will be revealed in the way they dress; their dressing will be lustful.
Your heart must be in alignment with your lifestyle and your lifestyle, character and habit must be in alignment with your hearts and testify to and reflect the content of your heart.
If your heart is in the affairs of God, but your lifestyle is corrupt, don't say that God looks at the heart, because your lifestyle speaks of the condition of your heart. Matthew 15:18-19, “But the things which come out of the mouth come from the heart, and they defile the man. For out of the heart come evil thoughts, murders, adulteries, fornications, thefts, false witness, blasphemies;”
Therefore, your fruits will justify you or condemn you (A man is justified by his works - James 2:24, “You see then how a man is justified by works, and not by faith only.)
