MYSTERIES OF THE CHERUBIM
Six Guardians OF the Throne
The Cherubim are Six (6) in numbers and are members of the Divine Governmental Council of Heaven, along with the "24 Elders", the "Seraphim", "Ophannim" and "Elohim".
THEIR ROLE IN HEAVEN
The Cherubim are personal Ministers, Custodians and Guardians to the Glory of the Throne of God [2 Samuel 22:11, Psalm 18:10] and are also Defenders and executioners of His righteous judgement in the heavens and the Earth.
The Cherubim carry the Throne wherever the Most High decides to go and works with another category of Angels called the Ophannim” or Wheel; [Ezekiel 1:16], who are transporters of the Cherubim.
The Cherubim are the Closest to God in Heaven because they are the ones designed to stand in the raw awe of the glory of the God himself. They use their wings to cover the Glory of God, so that the fulness of His essence is not revealed. The Covering Cherubim cover the Throne, while the Transporting Cherubim carries the Throne from place to place.
When God came down upon Mount Sinai, it were the Cherubim who were at work here.
APPEARANCE OF THE CHERUBIM VS THE SERAPHIM
The four Cherubim on the other hand has each the body of a man, yet each Cherub has four faces, each face being the face of a Seraph: a man’s face at the front, a lion's face on the right, an Ox's face on the left, and an eagle's face at the back. [Eze 1:10].
This means, each Cherub can take up the function and form of any one of the Seraph, the Eagle Seraph, the Lion Seraph, the Ox Seraph or the Man Seraph.
Their wings are for "warfare", "protection" and "swiftness" in flight. The more wings means the more speed. Hence, the Seraphim are swifter than the Cherub in battle and flight, hence are the 6 wings.
The Cherubs however are more powerful as they are carriers and protectors of the Glory.
Let me illustrate this. Trucks for carrying heavy loads are built not for speed but for power, but a Lamborghini is built for fancy looks and speed but not for power. Therefore, a Lamborghini with all its speed cannot carry the weight of heavy loads.
The Glory is weighty, and the Cherubim are designed to carry this weight of Glory, while the Seraphim stand and worship before this Glory.
The four pairs of a Cherub's wings represent the “Four Seasons on the Earth”, the Four Cardinal Points of the Earth and Four Winds of the Earth and heavens. [Number 4 represents times and seasons].
These Beings like the other divine Ministers of the Throne of God has the appearance of pillars of fire and burning lamps, Psalms 104:4, “Who maketh his angels spirits; his ministers a flaming fire”. Ezekiel 1:13, "As for the likeness of the living creatures, their appearance was like burning coals of fire, and like the appearance of lamps:"
Let me note: The Cherubim are the Guardians of the Paradise of God, called Abraham’s Bosom, which is called “Eden the Garden of God,” and this is in the 3rd Heaven and were also the Guardians of the Earthly Eden [Gen 3:24]. Archangel Gabriel is the Archangel who is the head Angel over Paradise; he is one of the four Cherubim.
HOW MANY CHERUBIM?
In Exo 37:8, Exodus 25 and Kings Ch.6, only two Cherubim were mentioned, in contrast to Ezekiel where 4 Cherubim were mentioned.
These two Beings are called “COVERING CHERUBIM,” positioned on each side of the throne. Psalms confirms this by saying God’s throne dwells between two Cherubim; [Psa 80:1; Psa 99:1; 1Sa 4:4].
Lucifer had this position before he fell - Eze 28:14, “Thou art the anointed cherub that covereth”.
However, in Ezekiel Ch.1 and Ch.10, the Scriptures speak of four Cherubim called, “the Four Living Creatures”.
These four Cherubim are stationed under a firmament, a paved work of sapphire, as a sea of glass. Hezekiah prayed, stating, "O Lord, the God of Israel, enthroned above the cherubim, you are the God, you alone, of all the kingdoms of the earth" (2 Kings 19:15).
The two Cherubim of Exodus and the four Cherubim of Ezekiel reveals that there are indeed (6) six Cherubim altogether. Interestingly, the book of Enoch spoke of the Cherubim, and mentioned six in number.
WHAT DO THEY LOOK LIKE?
Eze 1:5, They had human form,
Eze 1:6 Each had four faces and four wings [Eze 10:21].
Eze 1:7 Their legs were straight, had hoofs like a bull that shone like polished bronze.
Eze 1:8 four faces, four wings, four human hands,
Eze 1:10 face of a man, face of a lion, face of an ox, face of an eagle [Eze 1:6, Eze 1:15, Eze 10:14, Eze 10:21].
Eze 10:20-21, “This is the living creature that I saw under the God of Israel by the river Chebar; and I knew that they were cherubim. Everyone had four faces, and everyone four wings. The likeness of the hands of a man was under their wings”.
MYSTERIES OF THE ARK AND CHERUBIM
On the Ark of the Covenant, there were two cherubim, one on each side. Angels were statues on the Ark because the revelations of God were sealed in secrecy in mysteries.
The ministry of the Cherubim was not functional in the lives of the Saints because the mysteries of God were still concealed.
The Cherubim were represented on the Ark in the form of statues, which means they were as non-functional agents; and therefore could not transmit the mysteries of God.
Now that the mysteries have been revealed and opened, we are graced to become instruments of Angelic service.
When Christians are not walking in sanctification, the service of the Cherubim remained an emblem to them. This means the Word of God is still coded to them.
When these mysteries were released, the prophecy came to pass that says in Jeremiah 31:33, “But this shall be the covenant that I will make with the house of Israel; After those days, saith the LORD, I will put my law in their inward parts, and write it in their hearts; and will be their God, and they shall be my people.”
The mysteries of God must be explored and received, or the Angels will be sculptured to us. Where there is no revelation there will hardly be signs and wonders; because signs and wonders always follow revelations.
On the Ark, the Cherubim guarded (3) three things; The Manna [which is the precious Word of God revelations and mysteries]; the Tablets of Testimonies [which is the testimony of Christ- the spirit of prophecy]; and the Rod of Aaron that budded [representing the anointing of the fruits of the Spirit to cultivate the fruits of Christ through divine fertility of the Saints].
ARK OF COVENANT
The Ark contained three things:
The Ark of Testimonies was designed to be a representation of the divine principles by which the priesthood should function. Hence, we walk in the light of His commandments to manifest God's wonders and are sustained by His Manna- revelation of God.
A blind man who is walking in darkness cannot see, but he will use his hands to touch things to interpret and understand his environment.
So does a man who is walking in spiritual darkness and void of revelations; he cannot see and therefore uses his theology as hands to understand and interpret his environment - i.e., the Word of God.
Praise him with understanding.

- Aaron’s Rod - Rod To Do Wonders
- Manna - To Sustain a soldier and Priest
- Tablet Of Law - To Walk In The Light
